Many thanks to the many collectors and visitors who have graced the portals of The Pottery in 2007-2008! Many were made aware of Otto's work because of the excellent articles and photos of three periodicals.

The first article was in the October issue of 805 Living. Editor Lynn Andujar makes sure her readers are informed of various topics and people living within the 805 area code. Writer Anthony Head captured the essence of Otto, and the photos by Gary Moss, displayed on the yellow background brought many to the studio with magazine in-hand to view or buy a pot and get Otto's autograph.

In November and December 2007, writer Telle Rlikonen and photographer Peter Stone collaborated for a Finnish magazine, Suomen Kuvalehti which is comaprable to Time Magazine. Telle translated the Finnish article into English so that we could distribute them to our collectors! We have had so many Finnish people visiting or calling us to place an order from the internet gallery.

Finnish director and documentary filmmaker, Pekka Rautionmaa of Indigo TV, is currently editing the footage taken of Otto over the past year. The proposed premier of the 52 minute documentary is scheduled for late summer 2009 release in Finland. He is also incorporating footage... shot by Otto's niece, Helen Heino, into this documentary... which will be in English.

June 2008 issue of Cowboys and Indians magazine: Emily Sachar's extensive interview adds more insight about our favorite artisan. Helen Heino is given photo credits. We have signed copies of the magazine at the studio.

Otto will be attending the 205 Gallery's Lifetime Achievement Award Exhibition at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's headquarters in Concord, New Hampshire on May 15, 2009.  Many collectors have donated their pieces of Otto's work for this Exhibition and Otto has also sent many pieces for this exhibit, which will run from May 15-August 12, 2009.

Otto received the Lifetime Achievement award in May 2007, at the League’s Gala.  His sister, Olga Heino, accepted the honor on his behalf because Otto had a show at AMOCA (American Museum of Ceramic Arts: ceramicmuseum.org) in Pomona. (Click on their logo to see the brochure...) He will visit the Concord gallery on Wednesday and be in Littleton on May 17, 2009, to see their new pottery/jewelry school and throw some pots on the wheel he donated to them. He also looks forward to meeting some of the recipients of the Vivika and Otto Scholarship Fund in Littleton.

League of NH CraftsmenLeague of NH Craftsmen,"Craft Connections" featured front page article and his scholarship fund. We are pleased that the first scholarship is to go to a ceramist in Littleton, NH, as they open their new studio as an extension of their gallery, next month. In addition, Uncle Otto has sent them a potter's wheel !! Managers, Michele and Beth came the furthest distance last August to meet us at Hanover at that gallery, when Uncle Otto was the featured artist for their Traveling Exhibition for 2006!!
